The stars of My Life With the Walter Boys weren’t the only big names turning heads at this year’s Calgary Stampede — from celebrity sightings on the grounds to a world-record pancake flip near a Calgary mall featuring an Airdrie teen, the 2025 edition served up more than just rodeo.
Netflix cast hits the grounds
Nikki Rodriguez, Noah LaLonde and Ashby Gentry — better known as Jackie, Cole and Alex from the hit Netflix series My Life With the Walter Boys — were spotted soaking up the sun at Stampede this week, snapping selfies in western wear and mingling with fans.
Their Stampede stop came just as Netflix confirmed Season 2 will premiere August 28.
Both seasons of the series were filmed in Alberta, and previous filming locations featured several sites near Airdrie, including Crossfield’s Railway Street and Girletz Rodeo Ranch in Rocky View County.
Other Alberta filming locations include the Cochrane RancheHouse, Fence & Post, Elbow River Launch in Kananaskis, and several Calgary spots: Jubilee Auditorium, Heritage Park, the University of Calgary, and Splitsville Glamorgan bowling alley.
Netflix has already greenlit a third season, expected in 2026.
Flavortown meets Stampede
Also spotted on the Stampede grounds: Guy Fieri, the Emmy-winning host of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and Guy’s Grocery Games, who brought a little Flavortown to Calgary this week.

Fieri, who rose from selling pretzels as a kid to building a global food empire, was captured by Stampede organizers in full western gear posing on-site. He’s the latest in a string of high-profile visitors adding star power to the midway.
Airdrie singer joins Calgary mall in record-breaking pancake flip
Thirteen-year-old Airdrie singer-songwriter Hayley Isabel helped entertain the massive crowds at CF Chinook Centre on July 5, as the Calgary mall shattered the Guinness World Record for most pancakes served in eight hours — a total of 26,994 pancakes.
The 65th annual Stampede Pancake Breakfast drew more than 25,000 people to the east parking lot between Chapters and Yeti. Isabel, named Emerging Artist at the 2024 Airdrie Mayor’s Night of the Arts, performed alongside Madeline Merlo, Tony Stevens and Nolan Compton.
Proceeds supported the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.
And according to the latest numbers by the Calgary Stampede, the total 2025 Stampede attendance to date is 812,722.
