This Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13, you don't need a fishing licence in Alberta.
The Alberta government allows this twice per year.
The first weekend is designed for ice fishing during the Family Day long weekend in February, and the other time is the second Saturday and Sunday in July.
You still have to follow all the regulations; however, this does not apply to fishing in National Parks.
An exception is if you're fishing for Walleye with a Special Harvest Licence then you still need your licence.
Sportfishing licences do cost you $28.00 otherwise, and you need to have your WIN card paid up, which is $8.00.
