Music fans will have a chance to meet drummer Brent Fitz up close this Monday, July 14, when the Canadian rocker stops in at John’s Music in Moose Jaw for a special one-hour meet-and-greet event that includes autographs and ticket giveaways.

Fitz is a multi-instrumentalist (drums, bass, keyboards, and more) and a founding member of TOQUE known worldwide for playing in Slash's Conspirators for the past 14 years. He also recently played with The Dead Daisies and Streetheart. He is coming to Moose Jaw as a guest of local charity River Street Promotions (RSP) and Homestand ’25 — the city’s signature outdoor concert and youth wellness fundraiser. He'll be coming straight from Craven's Country Thunder, where TOQUE is closing out the festival Sunday night.

“We’re really excited,” said Jocelyn Froehlich, a volunteer with River Street Promotions (RSP), noting that TOQUE has deep connections in Moose Jaw and the band was one of the big draws at Homestand '24.

“Brent will be at John’s Music for about an hour to meet fans, sign posters from last year’s Homestand, and help us promote this year’s event and our fundraising efforts for youth wellness in Moose Jaw.”

The meet-and-greet is free and open to the public, with a draw for two free tickets to Homestand ’25 happening during the event. Fitz will spend part of the day touring Moose Jaw with RSP before heading to John’s Music in the afternoon.

“Brent is a big fan of Moose Jaw,” Froehlich said. “He’s always enjoyed playing here, and he’s excited to come back and be part of the music community for a day ... and hopefully we'll have a bunch of people there at the event.”

Homestand ’25 itself is scheduled for Saturday, September 6, at Ross Wells Ballpark, running from 4 to 11 p.m. This year’s initial lineup includes The Steadies, Fred Penner, Elliott Brood, and Streetheart — and on Monday, before the meet-and-greet, Fitz will help RSP volunteers announce the concert's headliner, which has been teased since the initial lineup was released.

Proceeds from Homestand support River Street Promotions’ youth wellness initiatives in Moose Jaw and surrounding communities. Since launching five years ago, the all-volunteer organization has raised more than $500,000 for youth mental health, school-based wellness programs, and community beautification projects.

RSP’s impact includes funding more than a dozen school-based mental health initiatives, providing flexible dollars that teachers and administrators can apply to programming, resources, and other projects that support students’ wellbeing.

Homestand has grown into Moose Jaw’s largest outdoor concert and a cornerstone summer event, combining live music, local food and drink, and a strong community spirit — all anchored by its mission to support young people in the Friendly City.

Monday’s meet-and-greet is part of that community-building spirit, giving fans a rare chance to connect with a national touring artist while keeping the focus on Moose Jaw’s own music scene and charitable causes.

“It’s open to anybody who’s free to attend and has a passion for music,” Froehlich said.

Tickets for Homestand ’25 are on sale now from the box office at the Moose Jaw Centre for Arts & Culture or online at tickets.moosejawculture.ca.
