The Portage Clinic has just announced a recent measles exposure that occurred just a few days ago.

The exposure, defined as low-risk by the clinic, took place on July 7th between 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.

If you or someone you know was at the clinic at that time, ensure that the affected person is monitoring for symptoms including:

  • Fever
  • Runny nose
  • Cough
  • Drowsiness
  • Irritability
  • Red eyes
  • Small, white spots on the inside of the mouth or throat
  • A red, blotchy rash appearing 3-7 days after the initial first symptoms

Portage Clinic advises that if you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms, to isolate at home and contact their doctor at (204) 857-3445 to advise them of their potential exposure to measles.

They add that it's best to call ahead so that their staff can take steps to reduce the exposure of other patients to the virus.
