On July 3rd at approximately 8:13 p.m., Winkler Police received a complaint from a staff member at a local store concerning two females who exited the store without paying for “a large amount of merchandise,” according to the service’s weekly police report. 

According to the complainant, the pair fled with a third female waiting in a vehicle.  

Stolen items visible  

Soon after, Winkler Police were able to locate the unoccupied suspect vehicle, which was parked at a nearby store “with the stolen items visible inside,” the report continues.  

Officers discovered that the license plate on the vehicle was not registered to it.  

Arrest and charges 

After searching the store near the vehicle, one of the female suspects was found and arrested for Theft Under $5,000, to which she resisted. 

The suspect also provided a false name to police.

According to the report, the two other females were located outside another store in the area and were subsequently arrested.  

The three females, all residents of Winnipeg, were charged with the following:  

  •  The first female was charged with Theft Under $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Resisting Arrest, and Personation, and released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.  

  • The second female was charged with Theft Under $5000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and issued a ticket for Driving an unregistered vehicle, which was seized and impounded. She was released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court.  

  • The third female was charged with Theft Under $5000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime on the strength of a warrant from the Winnipeg Police Service. She was released on an Undertaking with a court date at Morden Provincial Court and an Appearance Notice with a court date at Winnipeg Provincial Court.
