Town ’n’ Country Mall is opening its doors to bargain hunters next month with the Community Second Chance Sale, an indoor market giving residents a chance to sell gently used items—and shop for unique finds — without needing a driveway, a garage, or any combination of the two.
The event runs Friday, August 8 from 1 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, August 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., filling the mall’s common spaces with vendor tables.
“It’s really for people who might have a few things to sell but not enough for a full garage sale,” said Gail Hoffos, the organizer.
“We’re keeping it simple and community-focused — this is all about neighbours coming together to reuse and recycle.”
The sale isn’t a traditional craft fair or flea market: no businesses or crafters are allowed, and all goods must be secondhand. Vendor spaces are available for $10 per 10’x10’ area, with sellers required to bring their own tables.
“It’s a great way to clear out a few things, meet people, and give items a second life,” Hoffos said.
Proceeds from vendor registrations will be donated to Living Skies Art Collective, a nonprofit vendor in the mall known for supporting local artists and makers.
The mall hopes to host up to 40 vendors across both days and expects the sale to draw foot traffic not just to the vendor tables but also to shops throughout the centre. Many stores are planning to offer promotions or specials to coincide with the sale.
Shoppers can expect a fun, casual atmosphere — and sellers are encouraged to register soon as space is limited.
“We really just want people to have a good time and maybe pick up something special while they’re here,” Hoffos said.
