Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued an air quality statement for Moose Jaw and surrounding communities due to wildfire smoke.
Smoke from wildfires is causing poor air quality and reduced visibility. The smoke can fluctuate over short distances and vary from hour to hour.
Residents are asked to limit their time outdoors and consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.
Mild and common symptoms from the smoky air can include eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious symptoms can include wheezing, chest pains or a severe cough.
People aged 65 or older, pregnant women, infants and young children, people with re-existing illness or health conditions and those who work outdoors are more susceptible to health risks due to smoke.
