Update:

Due to the weather forecast today (July 13), the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron cancelled the Griffon helicopter's visit to Nanton.

Original story:

The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron was set to visit Nanton this weekend.

On Sunday, July 13, a Griffon helicopter was scheduled to land in the ball diamond near the Bomber Command Museum of Canada.

The helicopter was planned to land around 12:30 p.m. and would depart from Nanton between 2:20 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

“Don't be alarmed. This is a coordinated and safe landing with all proper permissions in place,” the Town of Nanton said in a Facebook post. “It's a great chance to catch a close look at a real RCAF helicopter.”

The town advised residents that during the helicopter’s arrival and departure, increased noise and activity would be expected.
