The Killarney Garden Club invited the public to tour about a dozen yards today, to share in the beauty of local flora and fauna.  Temperatures were perfect for a morning walk through the breathtaking gardens scattered throughout Killarney.

The variety of flowers, and their colors, is truly inspiring, as well as the different ways to display individual plants as well as complimentary combinations.

From the street side of the different houses, one would see a typical home in Manitoba. However, taking a walk to the back through a garden gate the green space is transformed into flower beds that would rival any professional garden.

One woman, who has participated in many garden tours, including Winnipeg and Victoria, BC, shared with her friend that these gardens in Killarney were 'right up there' with flowerbed growth and design.  "Stunning!" she said aloud.

From whimsical fairy gardens to Victorian rose gardens, from traditional flowers like hollyhocks and snapdragons, to new varieties like the little purple balls of Globularia punctata, the gardens of Killarney are inspiring.  From the most delicate miniature daylilies to lilies the size of your hands, the varieties are endless.

Backyard and garden themes ranged from golf putting greens to ladybug crossings. Water features and succulent displays added to the innovation.  And of course, the garden sheds were pretty cool too!

Reg Sawatzky's garden shed is one of a kind!  The inside is rustic, much like a log cabin.

And of course, each of the participating gardeners were eager to share in their secrets.  If you have the opportunity to participate in a garden tour, make the time and enjoy the sights, smells and inspiring conversation.  Warning:  your face will hurt from smiling so much!
