The U15 Macklin Lakers took home a bronze medal this weekend at 'B' North provincials in Unity. They joined the host Panthers as local teams in attendance and actually beat Unity in the bronze medal game to put an end to a great weekend of ball in the West Central community.

Macklin started their tournament with a pair of losses 9-4 against the Battleford Bandits, and 14-6 against Melfort. The team was able to rebound in their first game Saturday with a 12-7 win over Parkland, and 14-2 win against the Saskaoon Lasers.

The host Panthers beat Maidstone 11-1 to start their tournament, and then after the opening ceremonies moved to 2-0 with a 10-1 win over Twin City. Unity moved to 3-0 after beating the Saskatoon Phantoms 17-2, and then another 17-2 win against Prince Albert closed out their round robin undefeated.

Unity took on Parkland in the first playoff game Sunday and won big again 16-1, the Lakers winning their quarter-final 7-6 in a tight one over Maidstone. Both teams would lose in the semis as Twin City got revenge on Unity 12-5, Macklin losing 10-0 to Melfort.

That set the Kinsmen Diamond up for an all-West-Central matchup for bronze, and it was Macklin spoiling Unity's party with a 12-5 win to take home the win.

On the other diamond Melfort beat Twin City 9-2 to take home the gold.
