Summer brings road work season, and the latest project in Morden is soon to get underway. Mayor Nancy Penner says that will be the service road along Thornhill on the west side of the city.
"You may have already noticed stakes along the service road, and that's the road between Tim Hortons and McDonald's," she explained. "This road will soon be resurfaced. Just asking the community to be patient when construction begins. There will be access from the back lane, and that will provide temporary access to all the business along that service road. This upgrade of resurfacing will be most welcome."
Does your reno need a permit?
Meanwhile, Summer is typically a busy time of year for home renovation projects. With that in mind, Penner is encouraging residents to double check whether they require a building permit for those planned renos.
"I just want to make sure homeowners are aware many renovations may require a building permit, so give our Planning and Development office a call to see if your renovation does need a permit," she said. "Does that pool you're putting in need a fence around it? Is the deck you want to expand come too close to the property line? Do you need to apply for a variance? These are just some examples you may run into into. So again, just give our Planning and Development office a call, or check Morden.ca, before you start your renovation."
