The Unity Cardinals overcame a slow start on Tuesday night in Mervin to earn a first round North Saskatchewan River Baseball League series sweep.
The top-seed Cardinals wound up winning 17-7 after a mercy win in Game 1, and next up is a battle of the birds, a series against the #4 seed Lashburn Cardinals set to begin soon.
The Cardinals have their sights set on a league title with their 13-1 regular season record and strong start to playoffs; but are also keeping an eye open for provincials. Unity will join the Carlyle Cardinals, Regina Rockies, Regina Trappers, Marysburg Royals, Saskatoon Hoppers, and Saskatoon Outlaws at the tournament set for August 1-3 in Saskatoon.
