It's almost been a year since the current Miss Strathmore Stampede, Tenley Warburton, was crowned.
Warburton was given the title during the Strathmore Stampede long weekend, and Alie Churnoff is waiting in the wings as the next Miss Strathmore Stampede.
Warburton loves the opportunities the title has given her.
"It's been a whirlwind of a year. I've gotten a lot of cool opportunities, everything from absorbing the Strathmore Stampede from a different point of view to flying a helicopter, you get to do all kinds of cool things," said Warburton.
"Opportunities come like crazy, and the number of doors that opened with this title is crazy."
One of the things she worked on was the anxiety of the title, but as she got more comfortable, it became second nature.
"I feel like the competition last year was kind of the scariest part, right? Cause you're thrown into it and there's a lot of pressure and just a lot of things to do."
Throughout Warburton's life, she has always been invested in the rodeo world and won queen titles in the past, and decided it was time to go bigger.
Even though she is leaving the title behind, she is going for an even bigger one.
"It's bittersweet to leave, but I have some things to look forward to. On the plus side, I will be competing for Miss Rodeo Canada here in the fall."
Alie Churnoff will be crowned Miss Strathmore Stampede during the August long weekend.
