There’s no shortage of places to check out across Manitoba once that summer sun arrives, but if you need help finding things to do, Central Manitoba Tourism is adding an incentive to get people out there exploring.
From museums to zip lines to golf courses, nearly 50 spots across the region are inviting people to stop by and check in for their chance to walk away with an extra $1000.
47 stops along the way
Julia Prondzinski is the summer student with Central Manitoba Tourism, and she’s been helping to roll out the new project called ‘CMT Adventures’. She says that the biggest drive here was finding a way to get people to visit many of the different places that Central Manitoba has to offer, not just their favourite stomping grounds.
"We have about 47 different participating locations. So, there are lots of different things on there. There's something for everyone,” She said, "It's going to be a really fun summer."
How it works
The setup is pretty straightforward. Head to one of the participating locations, look for the check-in poster, scan the QR code, and that’s your entry for a chance to win.
"So it's going to be a randomized draw," Prondzinski explained. "You can check out our Instagram page, and there's a QR code domain that will take you to a list of participating sites."
Each check-in requires a quick Google form:
"You go to each site, and there's a check-in poster located at that, and you scan the QR code," she said. "You fill out a Google form and you put in your name, your phone number, and you just accept the terms and conditions, and then you enter to win."
And yes — the prizes are legit. Prondzinski confirmed that First prize comes in at $1000, second place is $500, and third place is $250.
“The more places you go, the more chances you have to win.”

Something new this time around
This is the first time Central Manitoba Tourism has tried something like this. For Julia and the team, while handing out the prizes promises to be a fun time, that’s not the main goal here.
"We thought it was a really fun idea to get people out in the community, and different communities they haven't been to."
Central Manitoba Tourism will also be popping up at festivals and events throughout the summer. Julia says if you spot them, don’t be shy about stopping in.
"Send us an e-mail if you have questions or you just want more tourism information about things to do in the area, and definitely check out a website and a visitor guide if you see us at any festivals or events this summer, feel free to stop by and say hi; we'd love to chat with you."
Details, updates, and the full list of locations will be available on Central Manitoba Tourism’s website and Instagram.
