The Moose Jaw community is preparing to gather once again to celebrate the life of Brady Grasdal through sport, friendship, and giving back.
The second annual Brady Grasdal Memorial Golf Tournament takes place Thursday, August 1 at Lynbrook Golf Course, with registration at 9:30 a.m. and a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start. Just a few team spots remain for what has quickly become one of Moose Jaw’s most heartfelt annual events.
The tournament is the centerpiece of a week that also includes a fundraising supper at Bugsy’s Irish Pub and Smitty’s on July 31 from 4–9 p.m., with all proceeds supporting the Brady Grasdal Memorial Scholarship Fund.
If you have a team in mind for the tournament, you may be able to grab one of the few remaining spots by emailing bg24memorial@gmail.com or signing up through the event's Facebook page.
“The community has been just amazing and Brady’s community… it’s really, really heartwarming,” said Amber Grasdal, Brady's mother.
“We truly are grateful. Our community is amazing and Brady’s community is absolutely just so heartwarming.”
Brady Grasdal, remembered as a joyful and generous young man with a “smile that could light up the sky,” was an accomplished hockey player (with the Moose Jaw U15 AA Warriors, Nipawin Junior A Hawks, and more) and beloved coach with the U15 AA Warriors. His passion for hockey was matched by his commitment to youth and his community, and he was known for having a circle of friends as close as siblings.
“It was amazing to see the applications come in and read them and see Brady’s spirit come out in each and every one of them,” said Melissa Marzolf, Brady's cousin and one of the organizers, reflecting on last year’s ten $1,500 scholarship recipients.
The scholarship fund honours Brady’s life and values by recognizing young people involved in hockey and community service — those who reflect his guiding philosophy of supporting player development both on and off the ice.
This year’s events will conclude with a gathering at Boston Pizza for a “cheers” in Brady’s memory, extending the atmosphere of family warmth and remembrance that has defined the memorial tournament.
Sponsorship support has come from across the community, including Hunter Morgan Construction, Henderson Insurance, Bugsy’s, Boston Pizza, Mad Greek, CP Rail, and many more.
Tickets for the July 31 supper are available online, by texting 306-630-1364, or at the door. Proceeds from both events ensure the scholarship fund can continue recognizing youth who share Brady’s passion for sport, mentorship, and community.
