Brandon-Souris Conservative EDA Announces Retirement Celebration for Larry Maguire

Media Release - July 15, 2025

The Brandon-Souris Conservative Electoral District Association is proud to announce a special event honoring the retirement of long-serving Member of Parliament and former Member of The Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, Larry Maguire.

The celebration will take place on September 6th at 5:00 PM in the hangar at the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum in Brandon.

Larry Maguire has been a pillar of public service in Manitoba for over two decades. First elected as a Progressive Conservative MLA for Arthur-Virden in 1999, he transitioned to federal politics in 2013, representing Brandon-Souris in the House of Commons until his retirement in 2025. A passionate advocate for agriculture and rural development, Maguire championed initiatives such as the Assiniboine River Basin Initiative, secured funding for wetland restoration, and successfully passed Bill C-208, which reformed tax rules to support intergenerational transfers of family farms and small businesses.

“Larry has been more than a public servant, he’s been a mentor, a friend, and a guiding light for so many of us,” said Jordan Sisson, President of the Brandon-Souris Conservative EDA. “His dedication to our region and his unwavering integrity have left a legacy that will inspire future generations.”

MP Grant Jackson, who succeeded Maguire in representing Brandon-Souris, added: “Larry’s tireless efforts have laid a strong foundation for our riding. His leadership and vision have positioned Brandon-Souris for continued success, and I’m honored to carry that torch forward.”
