It was a busy baseball night on Tuesday with the East Central 18UAAA Red Sox and the Marysburg Royals both taking to the road.

The Red Sox were in Swift Current facing down the Z7 Sun Devils where they pulled back into the win column.

Dayne Schommer opened on the mound for the Red Sox keeping the hit count low for the Sun Devils.

The Red Sox exploded with 6 runs in the 4th inning thanks to singles by Jacob Tran, a sacrifice by Cade Britz and a timely homer by Pryor Dyck to drive in 3 more. Another 5 runs in the sixth sealed the deal for the Red Sox.

Meanwhile, the Marysburg Royals squeezed in an evening double header in Saskatoon against the River Pirates. The Royals split the pair.

Cole Bauml led the way at the plate for the Royals’ opening 10-3 victory. Bauml drove in 6 runs on 5 hits on the night. He singled in the third to bring in 2 runs and hit a trio of singles to bring in the remainder. The Royals pulled ahead early and didn’t look back. Nick Anderson helmed the defense on the mound.

In game 2, the River Pirates eked out a 6-5 win. Marysburg went up 2-0 early, but the River Pirates reversed their fortunes in the bottom of the second when a pair of singles and a sacrifice brought the Pirates 3 runs and the lead.

The Royals made a valiant comeback effort in the final inning, falling just a run short.

The Royals head to Saskatoon again on Friday to face the Outlaws. The Red Sox will be back on James Korte Field this Saturday for a return visit from the Sun Devils in a double header starting at 3 pm.
