Saskatchewan's manufacturing sector continues to drive economic momentum, with new data showing a 4.4 per cent increase in sales for May 2025 compared to April. A provincial government release states that this marks the second-highest month-over-month growth among all Canadian provinces, underscoring Saskatchewan's expanding economic footprint.

"These positive numbers highlight once again that Saskatchewan remains the best place in Canada to live, work, raise a family and start a business," said Trade and Export Development Minister Warren Kaeding. "The huge growth we are seeing in manufacturing sales means businesses can invest with confidence as our economy continues to grow and prosper."

Manufacturing sales include shipments, inventories and orders, and represent the dollar value of goods sold by manufacturers. The latest increase adds to a series of strong economic indicators placing Saskatchewan among Canada's top-performing provinces.

According to Statistics Canada, Saskatchewan's real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at basic prices hit a record $80.5 billion in 2024 — a year-over-year increase of $2.6 billion, or 3.4 per cent. This growth places Saskatchewan second nationally for GDP growth, well above the national average of 1.6 per cent.

The release notes the province also led the country in private capital investment growth last year, with a 17.3 per cent increase to $14.7 billion. Projections for 2025 show continued strength, with private capital investment expected to rise by another 10.1 per cent to $16.2 billion — the second-highest projected growth rate among the provinces.

The government states that it continues to focus on long-term economic development through strategic planning. In 2024, the province launched its Securing the Next Decade of Growth – Saskatchewan’s Investment Attraction Strategy, supported by its trade and investment portal, InvestSK.ca. The initiative provides key information to global investors and promotes Saskatchewan as a premier business destination in Canada.

With sustained growth in manufacturing, GDP, and capital investment, Saskatchewan is positioning itself as a leader in Canada’s economic landscape.
