17-year-old Airdronian Evie Hooper is currently in her third fight with cancer.

Just days after graduating from high school, she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive bone cancer called osteosarcoma.

Veronica Hooper, the mom of Evie, explained her first battle came only at a month old when she was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma.

"She had her right eye removed because of tumours in both eyes. We flew to Toronto for treatment, and she was doing pretty well. The form of cancer she did have meant there was a chance she would get cancer again."

She was then diagnosed with olfactory neuroblastoma at 11 years old.

"In this case, we had to do chemo and surgery, and then they flew us down to Florida for proton radiation therapy, because they don't have that in Canada, because it had spread through her head and neck."

She came out of that fight with cancer strong, and now, six years later, she is in another battle.

"All of a sudden, she started having some pain in her jaw. It's quite unusual for it to show up in young people, especially in the jaw. She's going to have to go through another seven months of chemotherapy, and she's due for another large surgery in September, where they will be removing the jawbone and using part of her leg, the fibula, to rebuild her jaw."

"Even though she's going all through this, she's selfless and thoughtful and caring. She's incredible."

"It gives us some flexibility to be with her, and be able to breathe and not worry about other things. This is likely to be the most complicated treatment she has ever had. It's really good to see that people are still rooting for her and love her, and care for us all as a family."

Hooper is thankful for everybody who has supported their family and is proud of Evie going through these fights.

"We are very grateful to everybody who has helped."
