Representing their province against teams from all over Canada and the USA, Team Sask Elite enjoyed a stretch of elite hockey during last week's 'War for the Roses' female hockey tournament in Edmonton.

At least a couple of local players were on the roster below, including Macklin's Bentley Baier, and Kaylee Bacon from Kindersley.

Played at the West Edmonton Mall Ice Palace, the best players from around North America in the 2012 age group joined together for a great week of action.

Team Sask went 2-4 and lost out in the quarterfinals, but it was still made for a memorable weekend for everyone involved.

Bentley was the team's second leading scorer with three points (2 goals,1 assist) in six games. Bacon earned the second star of the game in the team's 6-3 win over the Eastern Canada Rattlesnakes on July 7 and had one assist in six games to sit middle of the pack in scoring.

Hope Hunter had four points total during the week to lead the team in scoring. Goalie Emma Weber was another key piece all week playing five games to the tune of a .907 SV% and 2.20 GAA.

The championship final took place on Saturday with the Manitoba Junior Ice playing the Western Selects. Just like the final game of the Brick Invitational held inside West Ed recently, it was a low scoring final as Manitoba eeked out a 1-0 shutout win.
