The Gravelbourg RCMP are asking for the public’s help as they investigate multiple break-ins that took place in Gravelbourg between July 13 and 15.
Police received a report of a break and enter on Third Avenue in Gravelbourg on July 13. RCMP determined that someone broke into a vehicle and took a firearm and a small amount of change.
The firearm is described as a brown .22 Ruger rifle with a black barrel, a Bushnell scope and a black clip. The rifle was in a black and tan gun case at the time. It’s believed the incident took place between 7:30 p.m. on July 12 and 6 a.m. on July 13.
Two men, who are believed to be suspects, were seen in the area around the time of the incident. One man is described as wearing a backpack, a medical mask and gloves.
Gravelbourg RCMP received another report of a break and enter on July 14 on Sixth Avenue in Gravelbourg. A vehicle and a garage were broken into between the morning of July 13 and the morning of July 14. No stolen property was reported to police.
That same day, RCMP received a report of another vehicle that was rummaged through. The vehicle was parked on a grid road near Gravelbourg, and a subwoofer box, mini amplifier, hammer, pry bar, headphones and USB/Bluetooth transmitter were stolen. Police believe the incident took place between 2:50 p.m. on July 12 and 1:10 p.m. on July 14.
On July 15, RCMP received another report of a vehicle break-in. Police say a small amount of cash was taken.
Gravelbourg RCMP continue to investigate.
The RCMP are reminding residents to take steps to prevent break-ins and thefts. This includes:
- Locking and securing your home, business, outbuildings and slip tanks.
- Avoiding leaving valuables in vehicles, as even spare change can be a target. It’s not enough to put keys or valuables in a cup holder or behind a visor. Remove items from the vehicle and lock the doors.
- Removing your garage door opener from your vehicle. If it’s stolen, someone can access everything inside your garage and, if attached, your home.
- Keeping your property well lit and considering installing motion-sensor security lights or timer lights that turn on at sundown.
- Consider installing a monitored security or alarm system.
Anyone with information about these incidents, or who recognizes the men in the photos above, is asked to call the Gravelbourg RCMP at 310-RCMP. Information can also be submitted anonymously to Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
