The Medicine Hat Mavericks rolled to a 12-1 win over the Moose Jaw Miller Express on Thursday night at Ross Wells Park.
Medicine Hat scored five runs in the fourth inning, five more in the fifth, and single runs in the sixth and seventh to grab a 12-0 lead.
Moose Jaw’s lone run came in the bottom of the ninth, when Tanner DeGrazia hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Austin Gurney.
The Miller Express will look to get revenge tonight when they head to Medicine Hat for the rubber match of the three-game series.
On Saturday, five members of the team will head to Seaman Stadium in Okotoks for the Western Canadian Baseball League All-Star festivities.
Moose Jaw is back in action Sunday night against the Regina Red Sox. Game time is 7:05 p.m. at Ross Wells Park.
