The BC Lions certainly know how to gain the attention of Rider Nation.

The Lions are bringing back back their popular "Watermelon Smash" theme for Saturday's game against the Roughriders.

Fans will have their chance to take out some pre-game frustration on watermelons, and for anyone worried about food waste, the leftover gourds are sent to feed pigs at a nearby farm:

With that out of the way we can turn attention to the field, a battle between West Division hopefuls.

The Roughriders are coming off their first loss of the season last week against Calgary. The main story from that game was the fact it was originally supposed to be played Friday night, but was moved to Saturday due to smoke concerns, leading to a stinker of an effort from the Roughriders who lost 24-10 to the Stampeders who tied them for first in the West at 4-1.

The Lions on the other hand beat the Edmonton Elks in convincing fashion 32-14 to move their record even at 3-3. Quarterback Nathan Rourke missed a pair of games due to injury but has rebounded nicely in two games since the injury with two 300+ yard passing games, one of those absences coming in Week 4 when the Roughriders beat the Lions 37-18.

Saskatchewan is a little better equipped entering Saturday's game. A boost on offense sees receiver Samuel Emilus back in the lineup, and defensive back Tevaughn Campbell returns on defense as well.

With a win, the Roughriders can not only avenge last week's loss, but the countless watermelons set to be lost to BC orange.
