Over 5,000 baseball fans packed Seaman Stadium in Okotoks on Saturday night.

The West versus the East matchup had fans rooting for hometown Dawgs players, but everyone was there for the event, regardless of who won the game.

Okotoks Dawgs that made the West All-Star team included Connor Crowson, Ricky Sanchez, Austin Eaton, Barry Eiseman, Zane Skanski, Nash Crowell and Logan Grant.

Kids had their faces painted, tables of players were lined up for autographs, and food and beverages were available.

One of the big draws was the Pete the Plumber home run derby.

Nash 'the Bash' Crowell stepped up for the Dawgs, but it was Matt Rhoades from the Fort McMurray Giants who clinched the home run derby this year with 13 homers in two minutes.

The gates opened at 3:30 p.m. with the Home Run Derby starting at 5 and running till about 6:30.

Then Brettyn Rose sang O'Canada to get the game kicked off, albeit a bit late at 7:30 p.m.

Some intermittent showers made an appearance, which led to the game being called in the 7th inning.

The fireworks were also cancelled because of the rain.

The East All-Stars claimed victory for the second straight year, and the final was 10-3.

The All-Star game now moves to Saskatoon next year.

Up next for the Okotoks Dawgs is a game Sunday afternoon as they face the Energy City Cactus Rats at 2:05.
