One person had to be rescued by firefighters after a fire broke out early Sunday morning in the North End.
The blaze broke out shortly after 1 a.m. in a two-storey home in the 400 block of Powers Street.
Heavy smoke was coming from the building when crews arrived, and firefighters quickly launched an offensive attack.
A ladder was used to rescue one person from the second floor. They were assessed at the scene but did not require a trip to the hospital. Meanwhile, crews also located a cat, but were unable to save it.
It took crews about half an hour to get the fire under control.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
