The Moose Jaw Miller Express picked up a 12-7 win over the Mavericks in Medicine Hat on Friday night. 

Moose Jaw opened the scoring in the top of the third inning. Thomas Soto singled to left field to drive in Andy Rivas, and William Edwards singled to right field to bring Soto home. The Mavericks replied in the bottom half of the inning with a single run. 

The Miller Express extended their lead in the top of the fourth with two more runs when Rivas hit a two-run homer. 

Medicine Hat tied the game 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth with three runs. Moose Jaw retook the lead when Rivas singled to left field to score Robert Estrada in the top of the sixth. The Mavericks answered right back in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game again. 

Moose Jaw pulled ahead in the top of the seventh. Soto doubled to centre field to bring home Ben Waliczek, and Edwards followed with a two-run home run to give Moose Jaw an 8-5 advantage. Medicine Hat gained some ground back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh. 

The Miller Express broke the game open with four runs in the top of the eighth. Soto hit a single to drive home Pacey Phillips before Edwards hit his second three-run homer of the night. The ninth inning went scoreless as the Miller Express sealed a 12-7 victory. 

Saturday featured the Western Canadian Baseball League all-star game in Okotoks, with five Miller Express players taking part. The East All-Stars came away with a 10-3 win when the game was called after six innings due to rain. Edwards contributed an RBI single in the top of the fourth to score Ian Heck of the Weyburn Beavers. 

The Miller Express's Austin Gurney took part in the home run derby and hit two home runs in the first round. Fort McMurray's Matt Rhoades won the home run derby, hitting 13 home runs in the first round and nine home runs to Heck's eight in the second round to win the title.

On Sunday, the Miller Express were scheduled to host the Regina Red Sox at Ross Wells Park, but the game was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up tonight at Ross Wells Park at 7:05 p.m.
