Many parts of Saskatchewan were dealt a nasty hand of weather this past weekend, coinciding with different baseball and softball provincial championships as Biggar and Unity hosted 15U play, and Kindersley was home to 11U provincials

Beginning in Biggar, the host Nationals started their 15U Tier 6 AA tournament off on the right foot with a 12-2 win against the Sask Five Aces. Coming back to the diamond on Saturday the Nats' took an 18-12 win against the Saskatoon Hot Shot A's and then closed out the round robin undefeated at 3-0 with a 17-3 win over Moose Jaw.

In the semi-finals the Nationals advanced with a tight 4-3 win against the Sask Five Giants Gotham, earning a spot in the finals against the Northeast Knights who won their semi-final 20-1.

It wasn't meant to be against a good Knights team; the Nationals losing 11-1 in the finals to take home silver and end a great weekend.

With the rain around the province, diamond upkeep was a major task at tournaments all weekend long, but thankfully dedicated groundskeepers helped move the action along to the best of its abilities.

Unity's 15U AA Tier 3 tournament was put on hold at times due to the rain, as the 15U Cardinals went 1-2 amongst an eight-team field, Kindersley also in attendance going 1-2 as well as both teams lost out on Sunday.

In the 5:00 PM finals Watrous beat Swift Current handily 11-1 to take home the gold medal.

In the final tournament in Kindersley, another wet three days wasn't enough to stop 11U AA Tier 7 from finishing up.

The Kindersley Royals played the Prince Albert Royals in the tournament final, an exciting game finishing in a walk-off extra inning grand slam for the visiting Royals as you can read more about that game below, scores from the tournament currently unavailable.
