On July 4th, members of the Morden Police Service were dispatched to Lake Minnewasta to handle a situation that involved individuals camping in the area without paying for a site.

Raised suspicions

Inspector Sean Aune of the service said that once located, the two campers, a male and a female, were “a little hesitant” to cooperate with police.

“There were some suspicions raised by the officers about the identity of the individuals,” said Inspector Aune. “It took [police] some time to actually figure out who they both were, and then once they did the subsequent checks on the people, they determined that the female was on a probation order, and she had conditions not to be in contact with that male.”

Arrest and a warning

Subsequently, the female at Lake Minnewasta was arrested and later released on an appearance notice to attend court in October, said Inspector Aune.
