Member of the Foothills Fire Department, Nelson Dechant, has been promoted to Fire Captain for the Longview Station.
The Foothills Fire Department described Dechant in a Facebook post as having a strong work ethic, a calm presence, and a willingness to always step up when needed.
Dechant first began fire service in 2018 at the Priddis Fire Hall.
In 2023, he moved to Longview, with a farm of alpacas, goats, chickens, and soon mini-donkeys, and became an integral part of the team.
When he’s not responding to calls, or training and leading the team, he enjoys trail running and spending time on his farm.
“We’re proud to have Nelson leading the way in Longview, and we’re excited to see where his leadership takes the team,” the Facebook post said. “Congratulations, Captain, your dedication and passion are an inspiration to us all.”
