On the evening of July 17, 2025, RCMP Central Traffic Services were patrolling Highway 17 in the Rural Municipality of Fisher when they noticed a vehicle travelling 139 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.

The excessive speed prompted a traffic stop at approximately 9:45 p.m.

During the stop, officers arrested the 23-year-old driver from Bowmanville, Ontario, after a search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 160 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine.

Drug paraphernalia was also found hidden inside a speaker in the car.

The driver was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, a serious offence that carries significant penalties.

In addition to the drug charges, the man received a $561 fine for speeding.

TRCMP also suspended his license after an oral fluid sample tested positive for both cannabis and cocaine.

The driver was released at the scene with a pending court date. RCMP Central Traffic Services continue to investigate the case.
