The town of Teulon has rallied together to help a 12-year-old boy who tragically lost his father earlier this month.
On July 13, at around 10:40 p.m., 37-year-old Sean Lawson, a single father, was shot at home on 7th Avenue SE in Teulon.
He was rushed to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
A 24-year-old man was arrested and is facing numerous charges, including 2nd Degree Murder.
To help Lawson's son, Brody, deal with the death of his father, the community and family members have set up an account in his name.
"My brother was a single father who was doing a great job solo parenting and making a wonderful life for his child," said Sean's sister, Keir Lawson. "These funds will help with his education, activities, and everyday expenses as he grows up and navigates his life after this senseless tragedy."
The goal is to raise enough funds to help cover immediate and future expenses, including counselling, therapy, emotional supports, school fees, activities and everyday living expenses. They would also like to raise enough for a post-secondary education fund to allow Brody to follow his dreams.
"Any donation, big or small, will be sincerely appreciated," said the organizers. " It truly takes a village, and the outpouring of love and support has been tremendous."
A donation account has been set up, and deposits can be made at any Access Credit Union in Manitoba using member number 5396 'Funds for Brody.' Anyone interested in making an e-transfer or sending a message to the family can send it to fundsforbrody2025@gmail.com.
