A local business is helping to raise funds for an 18-month-old Airdronian to help her fight a rare form of eye cancer.
Baby H is currently in a fight with retinoblastoma, and Great Clips in Airdrie is donating $10 from every haircut they do from July 25-27.
Bre Kaglar, the mom of baby H, explained they currently have to travel to Toronto every month for the next 15 months so she can receive treatment.
"She has two very large tumours in both of her eyes. We did chemotherapy for four months, and now we travel back and forth to Toronto for the next 18 months to get focal eye therapy."
She explained the chemotherapy shrank the tumours, which allows them to travel to Toronto to receive more treatment.
"When they take the photos, they see where the activity is in the tumour, and then that's where they do the laser and cryotherapy."
Kaglar explained that her family is very grateful to everybody who has helped them so far, and is thankful for Great Clips' involvement in this fundraiser as well.
"My husband and I have been Airdronian since we were young. It's so wonderful to have everybody show up for us, and that's what makes Airdrie special."
She explained that all funds raised will go towards their monthly trips to Toronto to get the treatment baby H needs.
"It is about $1,500 per trip. We try to keep it as minimal as possible, but the expenses do add up."
