No arrests have been made following the stabbing of an 18-year-old as police continue to seek the public's assistance.
At approximately 4:30 a.m. on July 13, police responded to the 800 block of Selkirk Avenue where the male victim was laying outside of a convenience store.
He was bleeding heavily and suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable.
Officers spoke with people at the scene and contained the area. Following the initial investigation, it was determined that the victim was with a teenage female. They approached a man riding a bicycle to ask for money for the store. The victim was attacked without warning before the suspect rode away on the bike.
A passerby vehicle stopped and called 911. An out-of-town visitor also stopped and provided emergency medical care until paramedics arrived.
The suspect is described as a man on a BMX-style bicycle. He had a black backpack and was wearing a ballcap that may have had a white NY Yankees logo on the front. He was last seen riding down Selkirk towards Main Street.
