Rain played a factor as baseball and softball provincials continued around the province this past weekend. The nine-team 15U Tier 5 tournament in Regina featured four local teams, all making it to championship Sunday, and two meeting in the final game that the rain ended up forcing out of town.
The Delisle Tigers, Outlook River Hawks, Rosetown Angels, and Eston Ramblers were in play, and each team advanced to Sunday.
Eston won three convincing games to advance to Sunday's semi-final. Sharing a pool, Rosetown went 2-1 with their only loss being a 15-14 defeat to Carrot River. In the other pool both Outlook and Delisle each went 2-1 to earn a spot on Sunday's schedule as well.
The semi-final games put Eston up against Rosetown and Outlook against Delisle. The Ramblers came from behind to win 12-10 and earn a berth in the finals, while Outlook beat Delisle 6-4 in the other game.
Lining up against Outlook for the final, the game started at 3:30 and carried on until the fourth inning when the rain shut things down. It was quickly becoming apparent the game would not go on, so Baseball Saskatchewan advised the teams to continue the next day at a neutral location.
Meeting the next day in Rosetown, the Ramblers picked up where they left off in Regina for a 13-3 win over the Riverhawks.
