Airdrie has seen a lot more rain than usual during July.

Christy Climenhaga, a scientist with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), explained that Airdrie has seen almost double what it is used to.

"The Calgary area (including Airdrie) has seen 128 millimetres of rain just during July."

According to her, the normal is around 65 millimetres for the month.

"It's not a record, but it has been a soggy July, especially in the last week or so."

She explained that while today will be a warm day (forecasted high of 26 degrees), the rain could return for Friday and the weekend.

"We're not looking at relentless rain for the entire three days, but some more showery weather is possible over the weekend, and some cooler temperatures as well."

When asked about how much rain we could see in August, Climenhaga explained it is too early to tell as of right now.

"When it comes to the summer months, August is often the driest, with the average amount of rain being in the 63 millimetres area."

Tomorrow, Airdrie is forecasted to have a high of 16 degrees, while Saturday and Sunday will be near the 18-degree mark with rain forecasted for all three days.
