A speeding vehicle on Highway 6 in the RM of Coldwell has led to a seizure of methamphetamine, cellphones, and about $20,000 in cash, according to West Interlake RCMP.

Just before 2 a.m. on July 23, officers stopped a vehicle travelling 157 kilometres per hour in a 100 zone, near the intersection of Road 138 North. RCMP say three women were in the vehicle at the time.

After arresting all three occupants, officers conducted a further investigation, which resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine, a number of cellular phones, drug paraphernalia, and Canadian currency totaling approximately $20,000.

Police say the driver, a 44-year-old woman from Winnipeg, has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. She was also fined $796 for speeding and served with a serious offence notice. The vehicle has since been impounded.

RCMP confirm the two female passengers were released and are not facing any charges. The driver was released pending a future court date.

The investigation remains open as RCMP continue to gather evidence.

West Interlake RCMP includes detachments in Lundar and Ashern, both of which remain involved in addressing rural crime and traffic safety in the region.
