The Medicine Hat Mavericks picked up a 17-6 win Wednesday night at Ross Wells Park to end the Moose Jaw Miller Express’s three-game winning streak. 

After a scoreless first inning, Medicine Hat scored two runs in the top of the second. Moose Jaw replied with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game. Tanner DeGrazia doubled to bring home Eduardo Saenz, and Robert Estrada scored on an error by the centre-fielder. 

The Mavericks added a single run in the third inning and five runs in the top of the fourth to take an 8-2 lead. The Miller Express got two runs back in the bottom of the fourth. DeGrazia scored on a single from Andy Rivas, and Rivas scored on an error by the second baseman. 

Medicine Hat made it 10-4 with two runs in the top of the fifth. Moose Jaw closed the gap to four runs in the bottom of the seventh when Ben Waliczek hit a double to drive in Rivas and Gustavo Soto. 

The Mavericks put the game out of reach with seven runs in the top of the eighth. 

The Miller Express will look to rebound as they host the Mavericks again tonight at Ross Wells Park. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
