Only one more day is left before the start of the big events for the summer at the Portage Golf Club.
General Manager Robby Moar and his team are preparing to host the Men's Open this weekend, followed by the Ladies Open and the Club Championship within a matter of weeks.
Moar says this year, things are looking really good in terms of the turnout.
"We have some cool things planned. Numbers are way up in the ladies, and we've got lots for the guys, too. So, we are super excited to get things kicked off starting Saturday morning for the men and play the weekend there, and then Thursday next week, we'll do the ladies too."

He adds that he believes part of the reason for the strong registration turnout is due to the work put in by the groundskeeping crew.
"It's all basically run by Farrol's guys out on the course. They have it looking great, so basically all we have to do is take registrations, and that's about it. Because the guys have the course looking great, it's always a more attractive place to come play when the course looks good. So, Farrol and his guys have it set up really well, and the numbers are reflecting that."
Moar is quick to defer the praise for the course's condition to Farrol Asham's crew for keeping the course looking great all summer.
"The work they put into it definitely doesn't go unnoticed, especially this year where we haven't had the most rain. So, it's been a little more hands-on for those guys, and I think everybody around here appreciates the work they're doing."
The club GM notes that while it is competitive, the Men's Open doesn't have to be just for those who play frequently.
"There are so many guys that can compete at this thing. But the good thing about it is that it's for anybody. You don't have to come expecting to win. We have seven flights and lots of prizes. It's just a fun weekend for everybody. So, whether you're really good and can win it or you just want to come for a good weekend, there are prize opportunities for you."
With the Men's Open, Ladies' Open, and Club Championship all coming soon, expect the course to be packed over the next two weeks.
