A blood drive has been organized following the tragic death of Royal Canoe bassist, Brendan Berg and his partner, Olivia Michalczuk.

The pair died in a head-on crash north of Swan River on July 1.

The idea was brought to life by Michalczuk's mother, Donna.

"Olivia received many units of blood after the accident," said Donna in a post on Facebook. "Without the generous blood donations to Canadian Blood Services, we would not have been able to say our last goodbyes before she passed. So….if you think you’d like to do something nice in her honour, please donate."

With help from friends and family, the blood drive was set up, and now anyone wanting to donate in Bredan and Olivia's honour can do so.

A website has been set up, allowing those who are interested to join the blood drive team.

"Joining the team helps us track donations and unite the community to help raise awareness for blood and other blood products in support of patients," said the blood drive organizers. "Contributing to this drive pays tribute to Olivia and Brendan, while offering vital support to the next person whose life depends on receiving blood."

To sign up to be a part of the team can do so here.

Since starting this blood drive, over 350 people have signed up to donate.
