Last week saw a slightly above average number of calls to the Weyburn Police Service, with members responding to 91 in all, including 13 requests for well-being or mental health checks. According to the weekly report, the majority of those incidents were resolved without needing further intervention. Two people, however, were taken to the hospital for additional care.

Four adults were charged in separate incidents throughout the week for breaching court-imposed conditions, with each of the breaches considered minor and each person released with a future court date.

Charges were laid in two incidents of assault, one with a weapon and one sexual.

A 'Report Impaired Driver' (RID) complaint resulted in an arrest, including for the driver's refusal to provide a breath sample.

The WPS included a reminder in the weekly report to Weyburn residents about the City of Weyburn's Bylaw regarding Fire Pits. While backyard fires are a great way to enjoy summer evenings, they must comply with the regulations set out in the City’s Fire Prevention Bylaw.
