RCMP officer injured, attempted murder charges laid

Muskowekwan First Nation resident, 28-year-old Elijah Albert is now facing attempted murder charges.

Albert was the focus of a dangerous person alert on July 24, 2025, following an incident which involved firearms and the injury of a Saskatchewan RCMP officer. 

He is now facing charges of:

• one count, attempted murder with a firearm, Section 239(a), Criminal Code;
• one count, discharge firearm with intent, Section 244, Criminal Code;
• one count, uttering threats, Section 264.1(1)(a), Criminal Code; and
• one count, pointing a firearm, Section 87(1), Criminal Code.

The Saskatchewan RCMP's Provincial General Investigation Section continues to investigate the incident, and a firearm and ammunition have been recovered as a result.

Elijah Albert is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on July 30, 2025
