The Moose Jaw Miller Express came away with just one win in three games over the weekend.
On Friday night, Moose Jaw picked up a 13-6 victory over the Weyburn Beavers. The game was tied 2-2 after the first inning. Austin Gurney doubled to centre field to score Thomas Soto for Moose Jaw’s first run. Gurney later scored on a Weyburn error.
Weyburn took a 4-2 lead after three innings, but the Miller Express answered with three runs in the top of the fourth. Soto hit a double that drove home Tanner DeGrazia, Andy Rivas and Ben Waliczek.
Moose Jaw extended its lead to 11-4 in the top of the sixth. The Beavers walked Waliczek to bring in DeGrazia. Soto then singled to score Rivas. William Edwards singled to drive in Jackson Yeager and Waliczek. Gurney hit into a fielder’s choice and Soto scored on an error by the Weyburn third baseman. Eduardo Saenz followed with a single to left field to bring home Edwards, capping off a six-run inning.
Weyburn replied with a single run in the bottom of the sixth. Moose Jaw added two more in the seventh when Rivas hit a two-run homer.
Weyburn managed one more run in the bottom of the seventh, while the eighth and ninth innings went scoreless to make the final 13-6.
Moose Jaw 4, Saskatoon 6

Moose Jaw took the early lead when Saenz hit a sacrifice grounder to score Soto. Saskatoon tied it 1-1 after the first inning.
The Miller Express regained the lead in the second when Soto singled to left field to score Pacey Phillips. Moose Jaw made it 3-1 in the top of the fourth when Edwards hit a sacrifice grounder to score Phillips. Saskatoon responded with a single run in the bottom of the fourth.
The Berries then scored two runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and one in the seventh to take a 6-3 lead.
