Entering play on Tuesday night at 40-7, the Saskatoon Berries are four wins away from making Western Canadian Baseball League history.
Taking a look at the WCBL history books, the Berries are only four wins away from the regular season record of 44 wins set by Sylvan Lake in 2024. With seven games left the Berries have an inside track at the record, and a sweep of the 13-win Weyburn Beavers Tuesday and Wednesday would offer a good start.
If they can keep winning the Berries should also have a shot at the 2022 Okotoks Dawgs record of 49 total victories. With an .851-win percentage headed into tonight the Berries also have a shot at beating the 2013 Medicine Hat Mavericks all time winning percentage of .848.
After the mid-week games at home against Weyburn the Berries will head down to Regina for a two-game series against the Red Sox, before a third and final game of the series in Saskatoon on Saturday night. The Berries will then remain at home for their final two games on Sunday and holiday Monday against the Medicine Hat Mavericks.
The wins record is ripening; it will be interesting to see if the Berries have the means to pick it one week from today.
