Emergency services and the Moose Jaw Fire Department rushed to extinguish a fire consuming a home on the 800 block of 6th Avenue NW just after 5 o’clock this morning.
Three trucks and nine firefighters responded to the blaze within minutes, which was brought under control shortly before 5:30, with crews remaining on scene until approximately 8 a.m. to manage hotspots.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident, as all human occupants were out of the house upon MJFD’s arrival. It was noted that one feline occupant, named Oscar, was rescued by firefighters and is expected to make a full recovery.
While the total extent of the damage and the cause of the fire have yet to be determined, investigations are currently underway, and the incident has been classified as a “fully involved structure fire”.
