Motorists planning to cross Lake Diefenbaker via the Riverhurst Ferry will need to make alternate arrangements Tuesday, as the ferry is temporarily out of service for maintenance.
According to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways, the Riverhurst Ferry will be closed for repairs from 8:00 a.m. to approximately 6:00 p.m. on July 29.
The closure is required to complete scheduled mechanical work.Â
Drivers are advised to plan ahead and consider alternate routes, including detours via Highway 45 through Lucky Lake or Highway 2 via Moose Jaw and Chamberlain, depending on travel direction.
The Riverhurst Ferry is one of Saskatchewan’s busiest cable ferries, offering service between Riverhurst and Lucky Lake across the South Saskatchewan River arm of Lake Diefenbaker. It operates seasonally and is free to use.
Updates on ferry service are available through the Saskatchewan Highway Hotline.
