The City of Brandon is pleased to introduce the Tree Planting Reimbursement Program, an initiative aimed at cultivating a greener, more resilient urban landscape across all neighbourhoods in our city.
Through this program, Brandon homeowners can receive up to $300 in reimbursement for eligible tree purchases planted on their private residential property.
To qualify, applicants must:
• Select tree species that are native or well-suited to Brandon’s climate. A list of acceptable tree species is available on brandon.ca.
• Follow city guidelines to ensure safe planting locations.
• Avoid planting on city property including sidewalks, boulevards, or parks.
How it works:
1. Apply for pre-approval: confirm that your proposed tree species and planting location(s) meet eligibility requirements.
2. Purchase and plant the approved tree(s) on your property.
3. Submit proof of planting to receive your reimbursement.
Once all steps are completed, homeowners will receive their reimbursement within four to six weeks.
Participants are expected to maintain their trees for at least two years following planting. This initiative empowers residents to be active stewards of Brandon’s environment while enjoying the long-term benefits trees bring to their homes and community.
“By participating, residents not only enhance the beauty of their yards and neighborhoods—they also contribute to cleaner air, reduced energy costs through shade coverage, and a stronger local ecosystem that supports biodiversity,” said Perry Roque, Director of Parks & Recreation Services. “This initiative empowers residents to be active stewards of Brandon’s environment while enjoying the long-term benefits trees bring to their homes and community.”
