The second of three open championships to be held at the Portage Golf Club is coming up quickly, as the Ladies' Open has attracted quite a group.

Portage Golf Club General Manager Robby Moar says lots of their tournaments have seen solid registration to this point.

"Because the guys have the course looking great, it's always a more attractive place to come play when the course looks good. So, Farrol and his guys have it set up really well, and the numbers are reflecting that."

Local participant Lindsey Jordan is on a hot streak at the tournament, having captured the last eight consecutive Ladies' Open championships at the club, and 14 dating back to 2004.

"It's insane to me too, to be quite honest, and you never know what kind of ladies are going to come. We have some out-of-towners and some good locals, too. So, the fact that I was able to squeak out another win, I maybe didn't shoot the greatest score, but it was good enough. So, it's really just a surreal feeling to be honest."

Jordan notes that she hasn't done anything out of the ordinary when getting ready.

"I've played quite a bit this year, no special preparation per se. We had our men's open this weekend, so the course is closed for that. So I took the weekend off, and just my normal routines of playing when I can."

The course has been looking good, according to both players and management, which Jordan highlights as one of the reasons so many women have entered the ladies' open.

"This year, I think our entries are really up because of the time change. So,  that's phenomenal. And then the course this year has been Mother Nature wasn't necessarily the kindest at first with the lack of rain, but it's really come along quite nicely. So it's it's playing very nice."
