Development is on the rise in the RPGA Planning District.

In the first six months of the year, the organization issued 95 new building permits - that's an increase from 74 during the same period last year.

"That's a fairly big jump and it's keeping me very busy," noted Lucie Maynard, General Manager.

"Lumber prices have come down, and so have interest rates, so it's kind of driven the demand," she added.

In total, these permits are valued at $8.6 million in the town of Altona and $20.1 million in the Municipality of Rhineland.

Pie charts outlining the permits

For Altona, these permit numbers translate to 33 new residential units and 1 new business. In Rhineland, that's 34 new residential units and 5 new businesses.

As a matter of fact, registering the second-highest permits issued is the community of Plum Coulee in the Municipality of Rhineland.

Maynard believes this growth will continue at this pace for some time.

"There are a couple of developers that are talking about sub-dividing more land yet, but things are still in the works so I can't say too much," she said. "So, we could see growth continue for the next five, ten years."
