A 49-year-old man has been arrested after officers seized over $2 million of illicit drugs.

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Organized Crime Unit opened an investigation regarding the distribution of illicit drugs within Winnipeg in April 2025. 

Officers seized a total of $2.2 million of illicit drugs, including 43 kilograms of methamphetamine, 1,968 grams of cocaine, $150,000 in Canadian currency, scales, a vacuum sealer, packaging material and other drug-related paraphernalia during the investigation. 

The suspect, along with three addresses of interest, was identified. 

Officers learned through the investigation that he man attempted to ship a kilogram of cocaine through the mail, which was subsequently intercepted and seized.

The man was arrested on May 15, 2025 while leaving a residence in the 100 block of La Verendrye Street.

Search warrents were executed with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team and the East District Community Support Unit on the private residences in the 100 block of La Verendrye Street, the 100 block of Noble Avenue and the 200 block of Mapleglen Drive.

A 49-year-old man has been charged with Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine, Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.

He was released on an Undertaking.
