Dawson DeMong-Moritz
March 2007 – July 27, 2025
Dawson Laurence DeMong-Moritz was born at 3:30 a.m. on March 15, 2007, in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, Dawson was a beloved son to Carlyle and Danielle, and a cherished brother to Jocelyn, Lisa, and Naomi. From an early age, Dawson's imagination and zest for life were unmistakable—especially when it came to his fascination with dinosaurs, which he loved in abundance. Throughout his life, Dawson remained active and curious. He played hockey and practiced karate, each for two years, and found joy and challenge in both. He attended school in Bruno from kindergarten through grade twelve, proudly graduating in June 2025. A true farm kid at heart, Dawson found his passion in seeding and harvest seasons, embracing the rhythms of rural life with enthusiasm and dedication. From age twelve, Dawson also discovered a love for broomball—becoming a proud member of The Axemen, where he built lasting friendships and found camaraderie that meant the world to him. Win or lose, he played with heart, grit, and laughter. Dawson's many hobbies revealed a soul drawn to nature and adventure: fishing, swimming, hunting, snowmobiling, and spending time outdoors were among his greatest joys. His creative side flourished through welding and working with metal—he had a natural knack for turning raw materials into something meaningful. Known for his generous heart, Dawson was always ready to lend a hand to those in need and lived by the motto “Loving Everyday.” His presence was a comfort and an inspiration to many, and his absence will be felt profoundly. Dawson will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by his parents, Carlyle and Danielle; sisters, Jocelyn, Lisa, and Naomi; maternal grandparents, Barb and Ken; paternal grandfather, Rudy Moritz; aunts and uncles: Claude, Theresa, Dave, Kevin, Brian, Kayla, David, and Jaymee; and numerous cousins who shared in his laughter and adventures. He now rests peacefully with those who went before him: his paternal grandmother, Annie Moritz; paternal great-grandparents, Elizabeth and Frank Moritz; maternal great-grandparents, Clara and Lawrence Martinka; and many beloved great-aunts and uncles. Dawson’s spirit—compassionate, hardworking, and helping —will live on in each life he touched. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and countless treasured memories. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church, Bruno, on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Pius Schroh and concelebrated by Fr. Lawrence DeMong, OSB.
